Classroom Disruption – Category A and B
- Student disrupts and is asked the RTP questions by teacher
- Student changes behavior and creates no further disruptions
Repeated Disruption
- Student continues to disrupt on the same day with the same teacher, the teacher asks the RTP questions
- Teacher fills out RTC referral form and send student to RTC (room 140) and calls ext 6140 to alert that student is on their way
RTC
- Student arrives to RTC, signs in, hands referral form to RTC Coordinator
- RTC Coordinator explains process
- Student moves to assigned seat
- Parent contact made by RTC Coordinator
Return to Class
- When a student is ready to return to class, he/she completes an RTC plan
- Student and RTC Coordinator review plan, make necessary changes, and RTC Coordinator schedules negotiation time and e-mails teacher
- Student and teacher negotiate approval of student’s plan
- Upon approval of plan, the student may return to class
- The signed RTC Plan is left with the teacher and the teacher will return the form to the RTC Coordinator
Category C Violations
- Student commits serious act of misconduct and is sent to the office with discipline referral form
- Decision for further action determined by administrator and teacher is notified about action taken
Non-Complaint Students
- Any time a student refuses to answer RTP questions and is not willing to work with with a teacher, an RTC form is completed and the student is sent to RTC
- If a student refuses to leave room, the teacher should contact the office
Disruptions in RTC
- Students that are disruptive in RTC will be sent home
- The RTC Coordinator will contact office
- Administrator will contact parent
Intervention Team
- After a student has been to RTC 3x in a six week MP, a meeting is scheduled by the administrator
- Student not allowed back in class until intervention meeting has occurred
- Intervention Meeting includes: Parent Administrator Counselor Teacher(s)
- RTC files are discussed and a behavior plan is created
First Disruption

- What are the rules? or What is the rule?
- What happens when you break the rules?
- Where do you want to be right now?
- What will happen if you disrupt again?
Second Disruption
- What are you doing? or What did I see you do?
- What are the rules? or What is the rule?
- What did you say would happen the next time you disrupted class?
- Where do you need to go right now?
Student Avoidance Questions
Step 1: Do you want to work at this with me or not? or Do you want to work with me?
Step 2: I see you have chosen to leave
